Rheumatic Fever

Rheumatic fever is a systemic immune process, which is a sequel to beta hemolytic streptococcal infection of pharynx. It involves  many tissues including heart, joints, skin and central nervous system.

Symptoms
Fever,Painful and tender joints — most often the ankles, knees, elbows or wrists; less often the shoulders, hips, hands and feet. Pain in one joint that migrates to another joint. Red, hot or swollen joints. Small, painless nodules beneath the skin. Chest pain, Heart murmur, Fatigue. Flat or slightly raised, painless rash with a ragged edge. Jerky, uncontrollable body movements ,most often in the hands, feet and face.

In Ayurveda it can be correlated as Amavatha.

Internal Medicines: Amruthotharam kashayam, Rasnapanchakam kashaayam, Rasnasapthakam kasahayam, Shaddharanam choornam, Sudarsanam gulika, Yogaraja guggulu, Amrutharishtam, Panchakola choornam, Gandharvahasthadi avanakkenna etc.

External  therapies:
According to the condition, in the initial stage of treatment, oil application is not advisable. Dhanyamladhara, Different bundle massages, lepanam, pichu, Virechanam, Vasthi etc.

Duration of stay: Minimum 3 weeks.

Ayurvedic treatments will helps to reduce the pain and inflammation of affected joints and to improve general health.

Follow up: Internal medicines and repeated treatment course after 6 months/One year.

Diet: Avoid intake of curd, black gram, heavy & cold food items, incompatible food items etc.
Include barley, horsegram ,bitter gourd, snake gourd, ginger, hot water, medicated butter milk.etc.
